The Ayn Rand Institute and Atlas Shrugged—The Movie
We would like to share with you the following message to donors from Yaron Brook.
Dear Contributor:
As you may know, on April 15 a film version of Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged will be released. The first of a planned three-part series, the film is expected to screen at some 300 theaters around the country.
Obviously no film can fully capture the scope and depth of the philosophy Ayn Rand presented in Atlas Shrugged. But whatever the reaction to the movie, and whatever box-office success it achieves, we remain committed to promoting the book itself and the philosophy embedded in it.
The release of this film marks the most recent development in a much broader trend that emerged in early 2009—an Atlas Shrugged resurgence that the ongoing economic and political crises of the past two years made glaringly apparent.
At ARI we are ready for what we expect to be another spike in interest in Ayn Rand.
On our Atlas Shrugged website, we have added substantial new content. Visitors will learn more about the novel, about Ayn Rand, and above all will have access to resources to enhance their understanding of the ideas behind the novel.
ARI’s overriding goal in making these online resources available is to encourage anyone who sees (or hears about) the film to read (or reread) the novel, and to learn more about the philosophical ideas that Ayn Rand sought to convey in Atlas Shrugged.
As I have mentioned previously, the dramatic increase in interest in Ayn Rand and Atlas Shrugged has presented us with a matchless opportunity to change individual lives, and to impact the broader culture.
ARI is investing heavily in an effort to capitalize on this most recent wave of publicity. With your support, we will be able to do still more. Please consider an additional contribution at this time to help us steer the film's audience to its source—the book and its life-changing philosophy.
Thank you for your consideration and support.
Sincerely,
Yaron Brook President and Executive Director
