Morality and Foreign Policy Dec 11, 2001
What: To define and defend a moral foreign policy for America When: Tuesday, December 11, 7:30pm Where: San Diego State University, Casa Real Room, Aztec Center, 5500 Campanile Drive, San Diego, CA Who: Dr. Yaron Brook, executive director of the Ayn Rand Institute
MARINA DEL REY--America's foreign policy of altruism and pragmatism has disarmed us--and armed the very people that now attack us.
Dr. Brook maintains that the American government in the last 50 years "has repeatedly forsaken the moral principle of self-defense. Instead of protecting its citizens around the world, instead of fighting for freedom, our government has compromised with dictators and terrorists intent on destroying us. America, to put it mildly, has been shortsighted, often more concerned about how the rest of the world feels about us, than about the long-term defense of our values; and it has repeatedly placed US interests and troops in jeopardy in the name of some self-destructive ideal."
Dr. Brook will outline his moral prescription for halting and reversing this fifty-year decline.
