MARINA DEL REY, CA--"The UN World Conference against Racism has met and has taken up its primary agenda: the praise and protection of racists," said Robert Tracinski, a columnist for Creators Syndicate and a senior fellow at the Ayn Rand Institute. Robert W. Tracinski was a senior writer for the Ayn Rand Institute between 1997 and 2004.
"The tone was set on the first day of the conference," said Tracinski, "when Yasser Arafat--who broadcasts anti-Semitic propaganda on Palestinian television and encourages the indiscriminate killing of Jews by his legion of terrorists--took the podium to condemn Israel as a 'racist' state that 'practices racism and racial discrimination, that adopts ethnic cleansing.' "
"Such hypocrisy should be no surprise," said Tracinski, "because it is typical of the United Nations. These are the same folks who recently refused to allow the United States onto the Human Rights Commission--while installing a representative from Sudan, an Islamic theocracy that tolerates slavery. It is an organization that claims to be devoted to world peace and opposed to aggression, while it serves the interest of tyrants and murderers."
"The U.S. has wisely chosen to withdraw its delegation from the conference of racists," said Tracinski. "But we should go further: We should withdraw any cooperation with the vicious fraud that is the United Nations."
