The Defense of America Lecture Series
Feb 14, 2003

IRVINE, CA--Three controversial speakers will begin a provocative lecture series on the war on Islamic terrorism, at the University of Pennsylvania March 3, sponsored by the U of Penn and Drexel University Objectivist Clubs. These educators seek to uncover the roots of the war, exposing the fundamentally opposite ideas and values motivating America and her enemies, the militant Islamists. Special focus will be given to why American colleges have become the breeding grounds for rabid anti-American and anti-Israeli movements.

Dr. Daniel Pipes, director of the Middle East Forum, is an internationally acclaimed Middle East scholar, prize-winning columnist and author of 10 books on the Middle East and Islam, including his newest book Militant Islam Reaches America. His talk, "The War Against Militant Islam: Are We Winning?" is on March 25, 5:30 to 7:15 P.M., in the Irvine Auditorium on the U of Penn campus.

Dr. Yaron Brook, executive director of the Ayn Rand Institute, has taught and lectured extensively in the United States and abroad on issues related to the Middle East conflict, terrorism and American foreign policy. His talk, "Why We Are Losing the War on Terrorism," is on March 3, 6 to 9 P.M., in Houston Hall on the U of Penn campus. His talk "The Moral Case for Supporting Israel" will be given on April 15, 6 to 9 P.M., in the Dunlop Auditorium on the U of Penn campus.

Dr. Gary Hull is director of the Program on Values and Ethics in the Marketplace at Duke University and a board member of Campus Watch, which monitors and critiques Middle East studies in North America. His talk, "Twin Towers Destroyed by the Ivory Towers: How America's Universities Harbor the Ideas That Spread Terrorism," will be given on April 10, 6:15 to 8:15 P.M., in Logan Hall, Room G17, on the U of Penn campus.

All the talks are followed by question-and-answer sessions open to the audience. All the speakers are available for media interviews before and after their talks. For more information log onto: http://www.aynrand.org/campus/calendar.html .
