To the Editor,
Of all the shock and horror expressed at Rodger Marks for having the audacity to answer his students truthfully, rather than march to the teachers union drum, the most shocking and horrendous expression came from Georgia Shiells (Letters 28/3).
When she imparts to us the wisdom she has learnt from her "best teachers": that "there is no such thing as a single truth"--a proposition she knows to be the single truth--she exposes a treason even worse than that of teachers who lie to their students.
This postmodernist line implies the end of: science, justice, civilisation. If there "is no single truth" (if 1+1 can =2 for me but 3 for you) then all that is left is unchallengeable emotions and brute force.
