Dear Editor,

Thank you Andrew Bolt for your courageous and insightful "Stars and gripes" (Sep. 12). Like the boy who declared the Emperor naked, you are the commentator who is prepared to state what you see when you look at our Left-over intellectuals.

To the Left-overs, it is axiomatic that all the world's evils are America's fault. If they can't ignore a beneficial result of an American action, they will dismiss it on the grounds that it was motivated by self-interest, as if that were a crime.

The Left-over mentality assumes that America must be to blame because it is rich and strong, which means that the only way America could escape blame is to do penance until it is poor and week.
