Dear Editor,

Giving the Nobel Peace Prize to the United Nations and its secretary-general would be farcical if it weren't destructive. The biggest threat to world peace comes from authoritarian regimes-such as China, Iran, Syria and Iraq-whose leaders sacrifice their citizenry for power.

In free, prosperous countries-such as the United States, the United Kingdom and Israel-governments are properly servants of the people, who generally have no desire to sacrifice their freedom and prosperity for war.

Not only has the UN sanctioned all authoritarian regimes, it has provided an arena for their puppets and cronies to gang up on freedom-loving countries like Israel and the United States. We now have a war on terrorism precisely because of dictatorships like Iran that have sponsored Islamic terrorism for decades.

Authoritarianism thrives on the sanction of freedom loving countries; world peace requires withdrawing that sanction. What the UN deserves is a Nobel War Prize, followed by dissolution.

Sincerely,
