Description: Tens of millions have read Ayn Rand's novels, including The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, and half a million copies of her works now sell each year. But far fewer people know of the radical system of ideas underlying the stories she created. Standing alone like her fictional hero Howard Roark, Ayn Rand defied the ideas of more than two millennia by championing individualism, capitalism, egoism and reason.

Bio: Dr. Ghate is a senior fellow at the Ayn Rand Institute where he teaches in the Institute's Objectivist Academic Center. This year he is teaching a year-long undergraduate course on Objectivism. He has lectured on philosophy and Objectivism throughout North America. Dr. Ghate received his doctorate in philosophy from the University of Calgary. His op-eds were published in newspapers such as the Houston Chronicle, the Orange County Register, the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the Providence Journal and the San Diego Business Journal. Dr. Ghate has participated in a BBC panel discussion on "altruism" and has given numerous radio interviews.
