Walter Reed Shows Danger of Government-Run Health Care

The "bloat, inefficiency and indifference" at Walter Reed is a preview of what we can expect from our health-care system if the government expands its control of medicine through "universal" health insurance and health care.

If we don't want America to become a nightmare resembling a continent-size Walter Reed Army Medical Center, we must reject the whole notion of government-run health care as immoral and impractical--and establish a truly free market in medicine, without any government programs, regulations or bureaucracies.

The next time you hear calls for "universal" health insurance and "universal" medical care, think of the misery endured by soldiers at Walter Reed and ask yourself the question: If this is how government treats its wounded soldiers, how would it treat the rest of us?
