U.S. Encouraged Hamas's Success

IRVINE, CA--“The White House is still reeling from the allegedly stunning landslide victory of Hamas, but that outcome was anything but shocking. Years of American appeasement had to bring not ‘leaders uncompromised by terror,’ but the more militant, ardently religious killers,” said Dr. Yaron Brook, executive director of the Ayn Rand Institute.

“By endorsing thugs like Arafat and showering Palestinians with aid, U.S. policy taught Palestinians that we will reward their terrorist war on Israel. Because Hamas is more consistent in pursuing that vicious goal, it has ascended to dominance. It offers Palestinians a moral ideal and a credible vision of triumph.

“Hamas is an exponent of the same vicious ideology--Islamic totalitarianism--that we are combating globally. Merely seeking to ‘isolate’ Hamas and begging it to renounce its ideals is suicidal. We should urge and help Israel to crush this brazen enemy of the West.”
