Just Say "No" to North Korea
Sep 27, 2005

IRVINE, CA--The latest "deal" in which North Korea agreed to dismantle its nuclear weapons program is a monstrous perversion of justice, said Dr. Andrew Bernstein, senior writer for the Ayn Rand Institute.

North Korea's rulers run the most brutally oppressive dictatorship on this earth. They have cold-bloodedly murdered hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians and imprisoned even more than this in their gulag system. If the character of these rulers is such that human life means nothing to them, then what does their sworn word mean?

When the Clinton administration reached a similar "deal" with North Korea in 1994, the Communists blithely pocketed $10 billion of America's aid and proceeded full-speed ahead with their development of nuclear weapons. In 2002 Kim Jong Il openly broadcasted North Korea's intent to gain WMD and in 2005 announced they had nuclear bombs.

A President who actually valued America's self-defense would refuse to negotiate with such savages, categorically end all aid, morally condemn the regime, and arm America to the hilt.
