Objectivism on Campus Objectivism on Campus

    Club Booths/Tables

By far the best way to attract students is to set up an information table (or booth) during orientation, registration, or at a student activity fair. The Student Activities office at your school should be able to tell you if there are any rules governing the size and nature of displays and posters. It’s a good idea to make your displays as large as possible. You’ll want all the students to know you’re there — and what you’re there for.

In addition to the campus club literature supplied by ARI, it’s a good idea to have a handout describing the nature and purpose of your club and what it will be doing in the coming school term. Also, be sure to have a sign-up sheet, where students can write down their names and e-mail addresses. If students are hesitant, you can explain that adding their names to the mailing list does not commit them to joining the club. It simply gives you a way to make sure they will know about upcoming events and meetings.

While there is no one correct way to lay out the literature that ARI will provide for you, make sure that the one-page handout “Introducing Objectivism” is prominently displayed. This is a concise explanation of the philosophy which will be very useful for those who’ve never heard of Objectivism.

It is also a good idea to make the literature table (and the sign-up sheet) an ongoing feature at regular club meetings. If you are publicizing your club’s meetings, you should be getting at least a few new people showing up each time. Letting them browse and pick up various pamphlets and flyers will help them to better understand Objectivism. When you need to restock on any of the campus club materials, simply go to the order forms in the Club Officers Section.
